Off the soccer field our children attended school together and played together

While I was both Mayor and Councilman of the Borough of Runnemede from 1994 through 2005, John Massanova severed as Chief Financial Officer, Treasurer, and Business Administrator for the Borough. In that period, John Massanova handled the purchase of the New Municipal Building and acted as General Contractor for the complete build-out project, which totaled over $ 2, 7 million dollars. John also arranged for the financing of the both the New Senior Center and Library, through various grants and other funding vehicles. In addition, John updated our Police, Fire, and Administrative offices, with both personnel and equipment, by utilizing grants and other outside the box thinking. John was instrumental in charting bringing trash collection back into town at major savings for the Borough. John was the person who when Mayor and Council needed something done, would be the person everyone in the Borough would call on. His dedication, integrity and honesty in dealing with individuals, both in and out of the Borough, made my job both as Mayor and Councilman much easier, knowing John was just a phone call away. His out of box thinking saved the Borough over a million dollars, in the period he served the Borough. Now that we have concluded the sale of Satellite Television of New York, I wanted to share with you my thoughts of our relationship over the past 20 years. As you recall, we first met when you were the certified public accountant for Community Cable TV in Blackwood, New Jersey. It was through that relationship that I developed a fondness for you based upon your professionalism, and your approach to practical business solutions. After Community Cable was sold, you took on an even more important role in my business world. When you took over management of STONYA, you quickly identified the issues that were confronting this cable TV business. I was amazed, and impressed with the way in which you approached solutions to each matter that confronted you. Obviously, the most challenging of all were your direct negotiations with the Board of Directors of Co-Op City, especially renewing our cable TV franchise with them. You then went on to take a 30 channel cable TV system, and turn it into I don't know how many channels you ended up with, but also introduced internet services to the subscribers. Now that the company has been acquired by Cablevision, our relationship continues on.
John, I just want you to know that, in my opinion, you are one of the best when it comes to identifying business issues and developing solutions. Thirty-Five years ago, John Massanova was referred to my husband and me; John came highly recommended as my husband had started a business. Between our business and personal taxes, we were facing an insurmountable tax debt. John was able to negotiate with the IRS on our behalf, both for our company and us personally. In the end, John arranged to have the IRS discharge over $75,000.00 in taxes, penalties, and interest, settling for a little over $ 7,000.00 total. John kept us informed on all correspondence between John's Firm and the IRS throughout the tax resolution process. We called around to the other various tax resolution companies advertised, but John assured us his firm could handle the process, and they did.
